Third day
What a day today was… You wouldn’t believe it. I don’t believe it how would you believe it?! It was a huge emotional roller coaster all day long.
First I woke up around 1 am, some animal was wondering around in the bushes. That was quite unpleasant, then it took me almost 2 hours to get back to sleep. Then at 4 am is started to rain! It freaking rained all day long! I left camp as soon as possible, and started to look for a place to have breakfast. But all the ducking benches and tables were soaking wet! Damn it! I eventually had breakfast in a bus stop because I just couldn’t go any further. Then the rain got heavier which sucked even more… After breakfast I started cycling, apart from the rain it was quite good, I really enjoyed it.
After and hour of riding I got to Regensburg, a really nice city situated on the riverbank. I did some sightseeing on my bike and then went to a mall to buy some new breaks. Oh yeah. New breaks… The GPS took me on a road that lead to a hill — which is probably unknown by any other geographer otherwise we would know for sure that the highest point on Earth is not in the Himalayas but right next to Regensburg. So as I was rolling down from the obviously highest point on Earth I had to use my break basically constantly, and by the time I got to the button of the hill I used 1/3 of the rear breaking pads. It smelled so bad every pedestrian was looking at me. Anyways I went to the store I bought new break pads, had a nice lunch and charged some of my power banks.
After that I started to bike again, it was really nice the weather was finally getting nicer, finally all looked good. Till now I was the one who overtook everyone, not a single person overtook me till this very day. On one of the longer stretches on the road I looked back and there was a guy how I haven’t seen before. I cycled a few hundred meters and the guys was even closer. I said to myself ‘Could you do that? I couldn’t do that. How can they do that?’ — if you know which movie had these lines text me! Back to the story. The guy on the bike was a French dude, who came all the way from Brittany. We started to talk we seemed to have the same speed so we sticked together. Little I know he was going to be my savior. We were biking on a normal asphalt road when I heard a huge explosion, and my bike started to feel funny. As it turned out I’ve blown the inner tire which blew the outside tire as well. We walked back to a shelter — because if you haven’t already guessed it, then yes it was ducking raining! He helped to change the tire, but since I had no outside tire we had to improvise… I’m gonna let the pictures talk here.
After we — by we I mean he — fixed it we got back in the road to rush to the nearest bike shop to buy me some new tires. It was 18 km away and was closing in an hour. There was no time to lose so we did put our back into it. However after 12km the tire blew again… My new friend Philippe told me he would race to the shop buy the tires and then come back. Who would do something like that? He just rode 12 km to help a complete stranger. I wish I could put my hand on my heart and say that I would have done the same. So he came back, put on the new tire and we searched for a place to sleep. We found a camping place, but he met some other French people who told him to continue our trip by 10 meters and there will be a olace where we can sleep for free. Perfectenslag.
As soon as we pitched up our tents we went to the nearest restaurant and had a nice pizza and two beers. It was a really long day I did more than 115 km so I’m exhausted. Imma head to sleep you should do the same. Good night See y’all tomorrow!
